Catalina State Park, Tuscon, Arizona

Catalina State Park, near Tucson, may have disappeared from our rear-view mirror a couple of days ago, but that doesn’t mean we won’t return. To date it’s our favorite place we’ve visited–and considering the stunning spots we’ve already seen, that’s saying something.

From miles of walking trails to the three-hour birding trek to the bighorn sheep talk to an 8-mile hike to (and through) Romero Canyon and Romero Pools … and we barely polished the surface of this gem of a place.

Will we be shopping on this, the day after Thanksgiving? Not on your life. We’re roving the countryside, looking for adventure of a less retail-oriented nature…. Wrasslin’ grizzlies, plucking’ porcupines, karate-choppin’ coyotes—you name it, we’ll try it.

‘Til next time … Keep It Gritty!
